Dear Tomasz,
Many thanks for your emails of 24 October and 2 November concerning a Working Group
(WG) on Optimization Methods in Biomechanics. I know that Prof. Toropov has received
quite many proposals for different WGs, which he is currently coordinating, and I am
sure he will get back to you very soon.
Meanwhile, instead of using the top-down approach you propose, I suggest that you
apply a bottom-up procedure to establish the WG. Thus, I suggest that you contact
directly the potential ISSMO members of the WG in, e.g., Lisbon, Milan, Austria, The
Netherlands, Denmark, Poland, UK, Ireland, USA, etc., ..........with a view that
you, jointly with them, select the sub-area(s) of interest for the WG and work out a
charter for the WG.
I agree with you that the topic "Optimization Methods in Biomechanics" is extremely
interesting and ideally suited for an ISSMO WG. However, to me (and as is also
illustrated by the description in your first email) the area is so broad that some
focusing - according to the interests of the members of the WG - seems to be
necessary.
...
Niels
