Dear Tomasz,
I would like to congratulate for the initiative which in my department may
interest, in addition to myself also my young coworker Dr. Pasquale Vena.
Quoting him implicitely I am referring to our common past addressed to
structural optimization about which I worked with Carlo Cinquini and
Pasquale Vena who elaborated his Ph.D. thesis just on the optimization of
the spherical cup of en endofemoral stem. More recently we used
optimization techniques mainly in the frame of identification of material
parameters or of boundary conditions, both very important topics for
modelling biomedical applications. So we were abandoning the optimization
community because we thought that our theoretical contribution to the
optimization theories was becoming too weak. However if our contribution to
match clinical problems with optimization approaches still can be
appreciated we would be very glad to have again the opportunity of
collaborating and exchanging ideas and experiences with old friends, as
Olhoff and Pedersen, and new ones, as you are wished to be.

Kind regards

Roberto
